Malta Trust Foundation

Developing initiatives that support young people and communities that are facing particular challenges and who are at risk of poverty or social exclusion. The Melita Foundation supports The Malta Trust Foundation through the Youth Employment Support Programme, YESP, which aims at integrating persons with intellectual disability, individuals suffering from post-trauma anxiety, and persons with learning difficulties into the working world.

The Malta Trust Foundation (TMTF) was established by Her Excellency, Marie- Louise Coleiro Preca in 2015. It brings together academics, psychosocial professionals, the business community, and civil society organisations with the aim of delivering a tangible impact in gaps within existing services. The Foundation stresses the importance of not duplicating current services and support, which are already being offered by other entities. The Foundation seeks to support vulnerable communities through initiatives that are both educational and empowering in aiding individuals to reach their full potential, with an emphasis on projects of a psychosocial nature.

Working together for a better future

Since our launch in 2020, The Melita Foundation has supported dozens of projects run by many diverse organisations. Project beneficiaries range from the very young to the very young-at-heart, from the the very local – such as supporting STEM skills development for school children in the Three Cities – to projects which will have an impact beyond our borders: supporting extensive tree planting; developing skills in maritime law and conservation; preserving parts of our heritage entwined with our diaspora.
