The Melita Foundation will be supporting Blitz to develop an online residency program for a local student and digital repository to embrace the benefits from lack of physical distance and geographical borders of online platforms. The project will explore art’s capacity to redefine collective imagination locally and internationally, connect to Malta’s IT landscape, and build significant synergies between art and local talent at a time of extreme hype for online initiatives and new commercial opportunities linked to blockchain technology.
Blitz
Supporting experimental and radical arts practices in all its forms, Blitz is a space to develop ideas, build relationships and nurture creative talent.
Blitz is an independent contemporary art space in a unique Valletta townhouse which has been repurposed into a site for residencies, exhibitions, education and a social space for the creative and the curious. Its mission is to work closely with artist, curators, writers and researchers who are articulating trends through cross-media and trans-disciplinary practice.

Working together for a better future
Since our launch in 2020, The Melita Foundation has supported dozens of projects run by many diverse organisations. Project beneficiaries range from the very young to the very young-at-heart, from the the very local – such as supporting STEM skills development for school children in the Three Cities – to projects which will have an impact beyond our borders: supporting extensive tree planting; developing skills in maritime law and conservation; preserving parts of our heritage entwined with our diaspora.
