Parish of Christ the King Paola

From rooftops to skywalks – Paola’s basilica goes sky-high with culture, community, and stunning views! With support from The Melita Foundation, a brand-new Skywalk project is transforming the roof of the Basilica of Christ the King in Paola into a vibrant space for learning, leisure and jaw-dropping panoramas.

Visitors will climb up a 30-metre elevated walkway and explore the dome, organ gallery, belfries, and beyond – taking in sweeping views of Mdina, Valletta and the Three Cities. It’s history, architecture and nature all in one epic rooftop adventure.

Locals, tourists, students, and those with mobility challenges will all benefit from this fresh cultural space. With LED lighting, rainwater diversion systems, and interactive touchscreens planned, the project blends sustainability with creativity. It’ll also support the local economy by creating jobs, attracting more visitors and turning this iconic church into a one-of-a-kind venue for events and education in the heart of the south.

Making a difference together

Since starting in 2020, The Melita Foundation has backed many projects run by different groups and backgrounds. From local STEM skills for school kids in the Three Cities to global stuff like planting trees, ESG awareness, teaching maritime law and conservation and ensuring our heritage is well taken care of.
