Karl Vella Foundation

Promoting the well-being of children dealing with a loss or a serious illness of a family member.
The Melita Foundation supports The Karl Vella Foundation by part financing The Wellness Pod – a programme that strives to maintain a sense of continuity in the lives of children going through such family situations.

Karl Vella Foundation (KVF) was established in May 2014. The Foundation offers free educational and psychological support to children dealing with a loss or a serious illness in their family. Support is offered in various ways, from one-to-one therapy to group programmes that help children interact. Since opening its doors in 2015, over 200 children have benefitted from The Karl Vella Foundation’s services.

The Melita Foundation will be supporting The Wellness Pod programme which offers six diverse programmes aimed at children of different ages, different backgrounds, and needs. Supporting the children, benefits families, as improving their children’s well-being impacts other family members positively. The programmes are delivered from The KVF Centre which is in the President’s Kitchen Garden in Attard and online.

Working together for a better future

Since our launch in 2020, The Melita Foundation has supported dozens of projects run by many diverse organisations. Project beneficiaries range from the very young to the very young-at-heart, from the the very local – such as supporting STEM skills development for school children in the Three Cities – to projects which will have an impact beyond our borders: supporting extensive tree planting; developing skills in maritime law and conservation; preserving parts of our heritage entwined with our diaspora.
