Julian’s Pathfinder

Helping gifted children achieve their full potential and their rightful path in life, through extra-curricular enrichment programmes in partnership with The University of Malta. The Melita Foundation is supporting The Julian’s Pathfinder Foundation by financing the participation of gifted students in a 4 days intensive summer programme at the University of Malta.

Without such opportunities, gifted students could easily remain unnoticed or mislabelled. Contrary to common belief, these learners are more prone to drop out of school due to not being sufficiently challenged. Their learning needs differ dramatically from those of other students with many benefitting from faster-paced learning, independent study, more complex content, and opportunities to use high order thinking and problem-solving skills. Through this initiative, the Foundation solicits input from teachers to identify children with the potential of benefiting from such programmes.

Working together for a better future

Since our launch in 2020, The Melita Foundation has supported dozens of projects run by many diverse organisations. Project beneficiaries range from the very young to the very young-at-heart, from the the very local – such as supporting STEM skills development for school children in the Three Cities – to projects which will have an impact beyond our borders: supporting extensive tree planting; developing skills in maritime law and conservation; preserving parts of our heritage entwined with our diaspora.
