Fondazzjoni Paulus

Promoting Malta’s cultural and artistic heritage through the revival of past and present Maltese composers. The Melita Foundation is supporting Fondazzjoni Paulus by partly financing the annual Agape Festival 2022 which is organised in collaboration with the Office of The President of Malta.

Through the Agape Festival organised annually by Fondazzjoni Paulus, the foundation promotes music from Malta’s historic archives such as those of the Cathedral and Wignacourt Museums bringing, free to the public, national cultural treasures that would otherwise remain hidden. The festival also offers lectures and guided tours of some of the most cherished heritage sights in Malta, including St. Paul’s Grotto in Rabat and San Pawl Milqi – the largest Roman agricultural villa in Malta.

The 2022 edition of the festival includes an event at Verdala Palace to commemorate Il-Kantilena – the oldest literary text in Maltese. Offered free of charge to the public the festival is accessible to people with different abilities, and broadcast on the national TV station. It benefits local composers that are promoted throughout the events, as well as the public at large, in particular those interested in Malta’s cultural heritage.

Working together for a better future

Since our launch in 2020, The Melita Foundation has supported dozens of projects run by many diverse organisations. Project beneficiaries range from the very young to the very young-at-heart, from the the very local – such as supporting STEM skills development for school children in the Three Cities – to projects which will have an impact beyond our borders: supporting extensive tree planting; developing skills in maritime law and conservation; preserving parts of our heritage entwined with our diaspora.
