Bee Savers Malta

Promoting and supporting nature conversation and promotion primarily by rescuing and conserving unwanted swarms of bees found on private property. The Melita Foundation is supporting Bee Savers Malta by partly financing new equipment such as bee suits, boxes, and medication.

The conservation of bees is important because they are the main pollinators of the food consumed on the Maltese Islands. Sadly, bees’ natural environments are constantly under threat due to construction work and lack of food.  In Malta it is estimated that around 400,000 to 800,000 bees are purposely killed because they swarm in people’s homes and properties where they are feared and unwanted. Bee Savers Malta voluntarily offer to capture and rescue such swarms of bees, and after screening for diseases, release them back into the wild to continue growing the bees’ population in Malta.
